Is there an option to hide all posts from certain instances?

Or is this feature planned yet?

I would like to keep the All stream clean.

Edit: The solution is here: https://lemm.ee/comment/1903303

This is desperately needed. I want to use the /all front page for discovery, but it's lousy with porn and foreign language communities from the same few instances, upwards of 20%. I block on sight but it's like beheading a hydra. Having to entirely relocate instances or use a specific app to block instances is not a good solution.

As @Socialphilosopher@lemm.ee said, you can block instances using this app but you cannot do it server sided. To do it from the app go to Setting> post list > filter > instance.

There are also controls there to hide NSFW if you'd like or filter posts by keyword or regex. It should be pretty powerful.

It is an open issue at https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2397 and it seems that the devs are willing to merge a fix but I don't know if anyone is working on it.

edit: in case it wasn't clear I am talking about the main lemmy code not this particular app. I don't know if this app has anything in particular it does.

Yes there is this option. Setting> post list >filter >instance

In deed. Thank you very much!

On iOS the Memmy app has instance filtering. It seems like a custom filter, not something that is part of the Lemmy software.

It forgets them every time I close the app though, so still not working quite right

I hadn’t even noticed that. Memmy has been quick to update, wouldn’t be surprised to see they addressed soon.

But, Memmy is a multiaccount app, so I'd like to use instance blocking per account. Last time I tried it, it applied filters globally.

I hope someone knows because I also don't care for the porn (you do you folks it's just not for me). I've been blocking the community as it comes up in the feed but there seem to be many.

Probably the simplest way at the moment is to just make your own instance so you can pick who you federate with.

[–] TeamAssimilation@infosec.pub 4 points 1 year ago

The simplest option, of course.

This feature is available in the app tho so you don't need to go through the hassle if you don't want to. To filter out instances from the app go to Setting> post list > filter > instance. There are a large amount of filter options on that page too and it even accepts regexes so it should be quite powerful.

Fff. Why would I go to a menu when I can buy a VPS and try to figure out a much more complicated process?

🙃

You should self host so you can have even more fun with picking out the hardware and having to deal with the networking yourself /s

Better set up my own email server so I can register.
