Something people are missing just based on the headline is that this is a "suspended sentence." So, there is a period of three years where, as long as she doesn't commit any similar offenses, she will have been considered as having served her time without actually going to prison.

EDIT Okay this concerned deliberately taking away ¥47mil (€281k / $305k) from the government, maybe that was justified.

The person who was caught is the artist of the manga adaptation and not the writer of the original light novel.

(Also both the ln-writer and the manga-artist are female.)
