Donald Trump repeatedly used the n-word in response to his car being damaged in the early 1970s, according to a new memoir by his nephew.

Fred C. Trump III recounts the incident at his grandparents’ house in Queens in his book All in the Family: The Trumps and How We Got This Way, according to The Guardian. “‘N—s,’ I recall him saying disgustedly. ‘Look what the n—s did,’” Fred reportedly quotes his uncle as saying.

I'm not sure we need to hold him responsible for shit he said in the 70s when he raped a child in the early 2000 and lead and insurrection this less than 4 years ago. There is plenty of new things to use against him.

I don't like the guy, but someone using racial slurs in the 70s is not surprising.

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 62 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I didn't use racial slurs in the 70's.

Just because it's not surprising doesn't mean it wasn't wrong even "back then."

I didn't use racial slurs in the 70's.

Neither did I, on the account of being unborn for the next 20 years or so.

Typical lazy millenial, waiting around to have someone else give birth to you.

This is a bit like saying we shouldn’t judge the leaders of the Confederacy by modern standards as if there weren’t slaves and abolitionists and a global movement to end slavery. Trump was notably racist even for the 70’s. He literally refused to rent to black people and there was a whole federal housing discrimination case. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/28/us/politics/donald-trump-housing-race.html

That's another reason why he shouldn't be president. He's too old. Kamala Harris was a child in the 70s.

Even if it was surprising, it's at least 45 years ago.

If you're 40, that's how long ago WW2 was from when you were born.

Tampon Don still sporting the ear napkin because his little orange ear 👂 is completely undamaged even though it was “shot”.

He needs a way to hide the earpiece that his handlers are feeding him the answers through.

CURRENTLY RACIST MAN WAS RACIST EARLIER TOO

[–] xnx 15 points 3 months ago

This type of stuff is always held onto until someone has a book to sell. Its despicable.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 14 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Slurs used to be so cool.

What happened to you, Slurs ? What happened ?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

Let's all go out to the bus depot and yell "Bum" real loud

[–] dual_sport_dork@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

I am not surprised in the slightest, nor do I expect this not-so-shocking revelation to sway anyone who isn't already for or against the Cheeto Bandito, here.

None of his diehard supporters will be ashamed by this in the slightest. I have friends who have racist-ass parents who are approximately Trump's age. Needless to say they're Trump voters, and within their own circles where nobody else can hear they're already (still) brazenly and unabashedly using the aforementioned word about once every three sentences -- in addition to every other racial epithet you can think of and probably several more you've never thought of before.

Anyone who is not a racist fuck already knows what a racist fuck Donald Trump is, and anyone who is a racist fuck either doesn't care or actively appreciates him for it already.

There are also allegedly tape of him using the slur during Apprentice filming. I don't see how this even matters, his voters have absolutely no problem with his racism. It's a feature.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

Wow! I don't care about this at all! I'm a little more concerned about his attempted genocide with Covid and literal fascist ideology than a bad word from 50 years ago, thanks nephew.

[–] logicbomb@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

I thought there was supposed to be video footage somewhere of Trump saying the n-word in The Apprentice board room for his TV show. Something along the lines of asking whether people would accept it if an n-word won. That would be a lot more recent.

I mean duh, he's in his 70's.

[–] renrenPDX@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

Something tells me he hasn’t stopped.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

you know damn well the word is still part of his everyday vocab. others may not hear it every day in public, but those three brain cells left up there, that are fighting to see who gets to escape next, are shouting it constantly.

[–] Blue_Morpho@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago

Why isn't the right calling out Trump for being woke? Why is Trump so politically correct that he won't say the n word?
