Both the same species (if I'm not badly mistaken). Both indoors within a foot of one another.

They're Steatoda nobilis, Noble False Widows. Characteristic pattern is a bit hard to notice on the first one unless you look closely, but it's clear as day on the second spider.

Hate to break it to you, but those strongly resemble ticks, not spiders. Do you have any dogs or outdoor cats?

No, and they're definitely not ticks. You're mistaking a (probably gravid) female spider for an engorged tick.
