This is such a sad story. Abused throughout her life, abandoned by institutions.

The real til here for me it's that she is still alive and in an institution today.

Authorities then moved her into the first of what would become a series of institutions and foster homes for disabled adults, and the people running it cut her off from almost everyone she knew and subjected her to extreme physical and emotional abuse. As a result, her physical and mental health severely deteriorated, and her newly acquired language and behavioral skills very rapidly regressed.

It works from me, I tried on mobile and desktop, I think the problem is on your end. Your link is the mobile site, but I linked the desktop version, maybe your lemmy client is the problem?
