G'day all! Time to sit down with my dinner and read back through your day, as I do when I've been too busy to Lemmy. I look forward to reading about your adventures!

sheesh, a long day today. About to go home, but first gotta drop the fact my new short story released
Couch came mid afternoon, delivery guy obligingly carried it into the lounge (would have been bloody hard for me to get it in on my own.
Zooks was already sitting on it upside down when I was putting the legs on, and purred for a solid hour once it was all put together.
We're now happily stretched out while I watch random stuff on YT.
My husband I each have a couch facing each other and he likes to fart up a storm on his side lately so I have told him if his filth breaches international shores I'm gonna unleash my nuclear power aka lavender spray. Tensions have eased today since it's Friday. A ceasefire if you like.
I've seen the kid come in to the room and go "nup" and back out.
Itโs not the shopping, itโs not the cooking. Itโs thinking what to cook and cleanup that tires me. I know someone that eats the same meal on each night, eg pasta Monday, taco Tuesday etc. Planning is easier sure but I think the boredom would kill me. And the endless life chore of dishes is soul sucking.
this is why I got a giant freezer. When struck I make ALL THE THINGS
when meh, I pull a lasagne or bolognaise or curry or dumplings or whatever out of freezer and cooketh.
Dishes are worse than scrubbing the loo! I despise it. Never ending cycle of ick.
Ahh my own bed, no beeping, no lights.
Apparently it has been a year since I last changed power/gas companies, so I have just been through the whole energy compare thing again. It is annoying how much of our lives we have to waste on this stuff, and it sucks that we effectively penalise people who can't do this. People like to call it a "lazy tax" to put the moral responsibility on individuals, but in reality it is primarily a penalty on people who struggle because of literacy issues, disability, age etc. A civilised society should be able to manage a fair distribution of essential services, instead we have created a system designed to take more from the most vulnerable people.
Was just shaving and noticed a HAIR protruding from one of my nostrils! NOOOOOO I'M NOT OLD YET!!
Yanked that mofo out of there. Now for some sweet sweet denial.
Have you checked your ears?
It's been a really really long day of talking and meetings but mostly worthwhile. Some genuinely thought provoking stuff. But it really, really stretched out the day :/ At least I get paid for the extra hours (or take it as time in lieu). Having two g&ts and walking home helped take the edge off a lot.
On my way back I also reported an expensive fancy car that was half jutting out onto the footpath of a main road because two other cars were already tandem parked on the driveway. I usually never bother, but eff it. These are rich people in an expensive area, it isn't some back road, they can cop a fine for being lazy shits.
This weekend has some social stuff but also a lot of financial decisions. Got my bonus and tax return today - yay ๐ค! Now come all the expenses ๐ธ... Energy bill came in - big jump in use, 9.42kWh (~$3) day. Need to organise replacement of radio in car with android auto. Need to organise car service. Need dental clean. Need drs appt after like 7 months. Need to rebuild savings. Need to plan how much longer I'll continue working FT...
But I think about where I was just over a year ago and so many years prior, and I'm SO grateful that I have all these choices now.
Is it wrong to want Joe to have The Big Sleep..... soon.
It's insane to me that there isn't an age cutoff of the standard retirement age for the highest-level job in the country.
If the party steps him down now, it'd be the responsible thing to do but it'd show weakness and go back on everything they've been saying (that he's fine) and they seem too arrogant to do that. Plus the fickle media/voters would probably label the party as unstable (which maybe they are) and lose them the election.
If they leave him on and he dies soon, the party looks stupid for not standing him down sooner and if he dies after winning there would be a lot of talk about the intention of getting the VP in as president without people voting for them.. another issue with their entire system of voting for the "president" and not the party/policies.
If they leave him on and he keeps kicking and wins, you'd have to trust that serious people are actually running the country and he's just rolled out to flub through speeches and shake some hands. If he loses then they have 4 more years of a cartoon-supervillain president assuming he lives through them.
I don't see a way back for the USA from the crips vs bloods level of division their people are in plus their need to make politics into entertainment. The hero-worshipping of their politicians is baffling to me. They're politicians!
If they leave him on and he keeps kicking and wins, youโd have to trust that serious people are actually running the country and heโs just rolled out to flub through speeches and shake some hands.
This is essentially the scenario if Biden wins. He's been in politics long enough to know how things work and what can be done through which channels. He's good at putting experience people in the right positions in his cabinet. He's got contacts and is still very much a 'Statesman'. I doubt he has a strong guiding hand in many of the policies, but rather acts in an advisory capacity.
Trump is the exact opposite, where he has no idea what he's doing BUT wants to be involved.
Best case scenario, Biden wins, governs for a while, resigns and Harris is Pres until end of term. Her legal background might make her much ruthless than Biden in dealing with Trump and his ilk.
Both candidates are unfit. The looser of the next election is America.
Is it normal to be fatigued by antibiotics? I went to bed at 11ish last night and woke up at 2:30pm which is super weird.
Yeah it's normal because there's a fight going on inside your body.

Wife and I discussing about a piece of furniture on Facebook marketplace.
The listing has a photo of their dog. So I joked about buying said dog.
Hey mate you've been resting on the machine for 5 min fucking around on your phone. Either exercise or get off the machine.

aww shittttttttt
when out for my daily stomp a month or so ago I noticed something that looked very very promising being built on Cochrane's road. From an open door of a recently sold warehouse I spied what looked an awful lot like a looping indoor track under construction. "Wah wah you're crazy" the husband said "wah wah it's the tile area, probably the conveyer track for marble cutting or something"
Well the signage is up and who's wah wahing now my friends? HA!
Gratitude thread for your Friday
It's Friday
It's Friday, I'm wfh "for the morning".
Just got a message that the couch I ordered, original estimated delivery 17th - 22nd, is out for delivery today.
Cue mad cleaning and rearranging I was going to do over the weekend.
I've only been awake 4 hours and its dark. Early night I think to let the antibiotics do their job.
My tax return processed this morning. Right on time, wasn't expecting that.
Finally going to upgrade the GPU, but I'm a bit concerned about the ram clearance, so I want to properly measure it out first.
I also bought a security camera today and some door alarms. I'm not sure if that was a wise use of money though, because I mean he's moved out now, and my doors and windows are all locked. If he was to come back and try to break in again (which seems less likely with each day that passes), he's probably going to get in by smashing a window. In which case an alarm probably won't do much. But I guess it'll make me feel safer, so it won't be entirely useless I suppose
Edit: I also followed up with the crime investigation unit handling my report, but they didn't really give me any new info. I gave them the serial number for my MacBook though, hopefully that helps
First test with frother from Kmart.
Minimum milk. Hot setting.
So of course like an idiot and was marvelling at myself for having stayed away from the news for some time and being blissfully unaware. Right on cue, YT serves me all the worst of the local news.
They're reading our brainwaves now, aren't they...
got a bunch of totes from bunnings, they all smell like barbie's arse.
time to get SCIENTIFIC!

Still got a couple if anyone has any recs
Nana and uncle have taken the kids out this morning whilst I'm still sick and have a meeting.
I better still have two kids when they get back
How about some anti-gratitude?
Old lady on the train insisted on me moving my bag off the seat next to me, despite the 10 or so empty seats in the carriage, and 2 empty seats opposite me. . Letโs target the person wearing a maskโฆ.
'Sorry no English' in your best/worst accent and ignore her request.
Just say it in a straight Aussie accent "sorry mate, I don't speak English. I don't understand a word you're saying. On ya bike!"
Uptight Aussie opiate laws. I was given ten endone for surgical recovery. One every 4/hours as required. 40 hours worth. I get there's addiction risks but ffs.
Some bright spark scheduled a meeting at 9 am (thankfully it's on line) but I need to perform my morning ablutions.
Gonna be a solid 30 minutes of clenching.
Rewatching Tron Legacy. What a beautiful movie and the score is just incredible.
