My favorite feature is having an old washer without circuit boards that cost more than a new washer.
It's not as fancy, or as convenient, but it's a trade I'd make again any day.

I hold this opinion with sewing machines as well. After working a Janome Mod-30 to death, I found a Singer 403A and I'm pretty sure this thing will out survive me (while meeting all of my needs). Removing the entire motor involved unscrewing 2 screws. Cleaning the commutator and checking the motor brushes involved unscrewing another 2 screws. I can't go back.
Front loaders cause less wear on clothing and use less water, which is why I originally chose front loading. It has been a while since I have been in the market, but the favorite feature on my old LG is the ease of getting to just a rinse and spin. Turn the dial to turn on the machine, hit the small rinse+spin button, then start!
