I have a feeling that might cut into their bottom line. Koala Sampler is already a decent competitor, though it is not a tracker, and thus a completely different workflow (and no internal synths, but it scales samples very well.)
And off I go, looking into koala sampler :D
You're in for a treat. It's ridiculously fun, and surprisingly deep. Also, you can get it, the mixer, and stretch algorithm add-ons for a grand total of $15 or so. You can even use a Bluetooth MIDI controller or even just a keyboard to trigger your samples making it a serious competitor to the SP404 or K.O. II. Sample length only depends on the memory of your phone, and is way bigger than you're ever going to need for a track (unless your phone is an absolute dinosaur.) You can also start making music immediately with just your phone's mic. I wouldn't want to try and master a track on it, but you can certainly take an idea almost to completion.
Nice! Thanks for the sum up.
