Here's an odd one (to me at least).
P's are going to a funeral tm and everyone has to chip in a $fiddy.
Extremely wealthy family. I've never heard of that before. Is that a thing now?
I understand they're expensive but just never seen that before.
Extremely wealthy and they’re insisting people chip in for a funeral? That’s extremely tacky.
I’ve heard of people asking for donations to a charity rather than flowers, but never for the cost of the funeral.
E: it would be tacky even if they weren’t wealthy
Why though? For what?
Entrance fee?
Very odd, I’ve been to a lot of funerals and never have been asked to chip in.
It’s up to the family to organise and decide what to do with the funeral and it’s their responsibility to finance it and everyone’s else role is to pay respects or to celebrate their life.
The only time where I might have to was when they organised a after lunch or something but I didn’t go so no idea if that ended up being split.
Me either - sounds dodgy to me. Is the funeral going to be catered??? If so, why???? Usually funeral expenses are covered by the executor of the deceased's Will as a first charge on the estate. The whole "after payment of funeral expenses and just dues and taxes" bit that nearly every Will starts off with.
Sounds like the beneficiaries of the estate want to maximise their slice of the pie to me.
Staying wealthy by being (extremely) frugal? That seems... very weird.
What? I gave up going to funerals in the late 90s but have never heard of this.
yeaaaaaaah nah. Unless its someone I'm super close with I cant see me ever doing that.
That'd be a pass for me.
