Can we have context? Are new Samsung TVs doing something with ads in their built-in apps?

You're getting ads with them.

Can you explain? How am I getting those? On which apps?

My samsung tv would put them on the status bar after switching channels or inputs. I've since done a factory reset and never reconnected it to wifi. The UI is substantially faster now. I'll avoid samsung products for good after buying this tv.

Oh got it. Were you using the built-in Samsung apps or something else, like a set top box?

[–] YerbaYerba@lemm.ee 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Just the basic smart TV UI. I watch local OTA channels and have HDMI inputs.

That’s crappy. I have an S95. I’ve never used the built-in OS since it just goes to an Apple TV. If they started showing me ads when I switched inputs, I might replace it.

Not sure about samsung but all Android tvs have a "recommendations" section on the home screen that can't be disabled that will show things from Disney, Netflix, Prime etc. Even if you're not subscribed to them.
