I think I have covid - one of my coworkers came in with it, tested positive that evening, and now I'm fluey.

My partner is casual.

What the fuck do we do here? Are we just expected to take the financial hit in a COL crisis?

I think your partner might be able to get the sick pay? Not sure about that. Otherwise, check out Ask Izzy and/or Centrelink for anything that might help you if they cannot work. There are charities that can help with food and bills and whatnot

Thanks mate - looks like sick pay guarantee stopped being available as of 31 May. Centrelink doesn't offer anything, will check out Ask Izzy though

At my work we get an automatic 5 days off coming out of sick leave upon testing positive. Anything over that needs a doctor's certificate.

You might be covered by something similar, not sure about your partner though.

Indeed - I'm fine in that regard for that reason. My partner on the other hand...alas, I'm not earning enough to cover us both to the extent I may have to
