That's pretty much the only way. Which is a good thing, otherwise, everyone would make their communities on lemmy.ml, and we'd have centralisation entrenched in to the whole thing
Got it, thanks! The question came up since I'm registered with a single-purpose instance (as far as local communities are concerned) and since we don't have a clue whether we maintain it in the long run, I just don't feel like migrating some of my larger reddit communities over.
