Ngl I'm not huge on cats but seeing that while studying would've been a really nice break and would help lighten the load
Why are you not huge on cats? Have you not owned one?
They're bad for the environment if they get out of the house, and a lot of people have made fair arguments that they're not actually a domesticated animal.
Well, the solution is to not let them get out
Well taken care of indoor cats live longer and healthier lives anyway 🤷
It's debatable if the cats live happier lives though.
Our cat is pretty much depressed during winter because she can't (Well she can if she wants but it's cold and snowy 🤷) go out. When it's summer she seems way happier because she can run around outside.
She is also less annoying during the summer because during winter she constantly meows because she has nothing to do.
It's rude to not share your cat with the neighbourhood ☹️
You can assemble tea parties where guests are invited to visit accompanied by their cats

just in case someone will take it seriously, this is a pretty bad idea, as cats don't get along with each other too well unless given a lot of time to accommodate. Besides, unexpected and involuntary moving around will likely stress a cat even furtherFree entertainment!

There are dozens of felines native to the Americas
i understand the sentiment but the "cats are bad for the environment" thing is mostly about how the human practice of keeping and breeding cats has made more cats than are good for the environment and placed them basically everywhere.
like yeah there are native cats but also we have a shit ton of cats brought and/or bred by humans that nature is not equipped to handle
Care to elaborate on your second point? Like why/how is that an issue?
