First 40 minutes of work today really soured my tone for the week. Had a chat with my boss and he felt the same.
Reason - we have some team members who are getting a bit too big for their britches, and causing a bit of friction. One particular person cannot stop themselves from interrupting others when talking. Happens daily, they have been reprimanded and it still happens. I think we're getting close to an HR chat or a director telling them to pull their heads in.
Talk to them like a four year old and say its rude to interrupt you need to wait your turn?
Make an office talking stick thing. When they interrupt the person holding the stick gets to shake it at them, something tambourine-esque.
Start interruption tipping, where everyone goes into a draw for how far into the meeting until this person will interrupt, when the condition goes off, everyone slaps $5 on the table and says who won. Danny had three minutes, everyone hands Danny a fiver.
Move to zoom meetings and mute them.
Sponsor everyone in the office to learn sign language except them.
They have been reminded not to do it numerous times. Falls on deaf (or just stupid) ears. I have muted them on virtual meetings and will continue to do so
