I’ve been around long enough to see this argument pop up on meme pages many times. And every single time you cynical people are proven wrong by the upvote ratio.

It's not an argument it's a fact. Memes require OP to actually create something. Screenshots are funny reposts. Upvote ratio is a fact too, hence the proposal to have a welcoming place for screenshots.
