For some reason reading the news from overseas is particularly painful.....just so so parochial and petty bourgeois.

Depends on the calibre of what you're reading... Tbh I find most commercial news in Australia to be exactly that, parochial and petty bourgeois

In this case it was the Age. But I have to say even the ABC leans this way at times and has become a bit click baity.
