Loved the first the second not so much, the main character in 2 is played like a nerdy, altruistic hacker, while he's committing mass murder and tearing shit up. The first protagonist made more sense.

Let's not talk about Legion. That game was so forgettable

i thought 2 was much more mechanically rich but this is a dissonance issue with the fun-loving crew that can kill.

luckily you can play the game using non-lethal methods and stealth so it works, but ubisoft wont commit fully.

I think it could have really used that dissonance. My playthrough came to a point where I got fed up of stealth and started using all the violent toys I'd unlocked a long time prior. But nothing happens when you unlock them, there's no commentary when you first get them or use them etc, but it could have been a good story that featured the whole question of do the ends justify the means from both sides. Both in security and in resistance.

Obviously not the game we got, but that game lives rent-free in my head simply due to it not existing.

I feel like if they tried to play it straight and tackle that issue the tone of the entire game would have to be on that page to begin with, or I would be unable to take the corny cast seriously. It's a game light in tone by design

Yeah, you're probably right.
