Here you will find religious content that is so outrageous and so cringeworthy that even someone who is mildly religious will cringe.

That's a good article. The Catholic Church can't say "they're not us and they're fucking nuts" but they came close.
Article TLDR: Catholic Church said those are not us, they're Dominicans. In short, these ladies look forward to living the Handmaid's Tale and already behave like it, complete with habits.
For the record Dominican Nuns are an official monastic sect recognized by the Catholic church. They were started in 1206 by Saint Dominic de Guzman and are one of the 5 largest monastic Catholic religious sects today*. So the Church didnt say "they arent us because they're Dominicans." They essentially said "we don't recognize those women as Dominican nuns".
Note:*I think they may move up even higher on the list if you include monks as well as nuns...since friars are medicant and not monastic but poor Claire's are monastic? Someone with more knowledge of Catholic religious orders may know more.
