- News oriented content (general reviews, previews or retrospectives allowed).

Probably also depending on the game. You can't get as much travel out of it as a mouse on a large pad before resetting your position.
On the other hand picking up your thumb is far easier than picking up a mouse, plus you can spin the ball, and the more you get used to trackballs the easier it is to move it exactly how much you want with a quick spin
