we live in a world of e-waste and related refuse, from batteries to electronics to fluorescent lights, and yet no where, afaict, has incorporated e-waste pickup into their waste management processes, nor are there widespread e-waste dropoff points

@beka_valentine@kolektiva.social In Norway, any place that sells electronics are obligated to also receive the same category electronics in return for proper disposal. Meaning, even a grocer who sells batteries has to be able to do it. And the local waste stations will accept electronics (batteries, lightbulbs etc included) without charge. All toxic waste can be disposed at waste stations for free, while other waste is subject to fees.
