A drought in Africa had a substantial impact on cocoa farming. Maybe it’s a good thing.. maybe more people will start to give a shit about climate when they can’t afford chocolate.

Had this impact come to something like celery, no one would probably give a shit. But chocolate? That has to get some attention.

Honestly, it's disturbing how much of Côte d'Ivorie's economy is based in cash crops for the global North. As climate change ravages the tropics, people in the global North will be surprised at how much the foods from that region cost to them without thinking about the cost to the people that grow them.

Unfortunately, I can see tech bros trying to "invent" their way out of this and further pull money from these already impoverished regions.
