Buc-ee's is a weird one. The stores are clean, the offerings solid (in their category... let's not wax TOO poetic about quick service barbecue and caramel glazed corn pops), and the pay is good, especially in some of the more remote towns. Then the business model has resulted in iconic status, so they're clearly doing something right. That said, the working conditions for that good pay are grueling, the ownership is typical right-wing Texas industrialist, and the company is notoriously litigious. I still go, because Ithis is the world we live in and I've also seen nasty-ass freeway tetanus bathrooms when I skipped the previous buc-ee's, but some of the shine is off the beaverteeth.
