I can't get over 0.00 most of the time because no one's leeching 😭

Idk how I'm even supposed to get a good ratio

Download a popular movie and keep your computer on for a while 🤷‍♂️

Although, seeding stuff that isn't popular is also important. I don't know what you're seeding but if no one is leeching maybe there aren't a whole lot of other people seeding either. When someone does leech, they might be very happy that you're there keeping that one torrent alive.

I was suddenly nostalgic for MythBusters again, and in my acquisition I found a couple seasons that have pretty low seeders. Will gladly be a forever seeder even if one person a year leaches

There's a fanedit out there of the complete series Mythbusters with all of the flashbacks and filler removed. No more 5-minute long "before the break" segments.

[–] CurbsTickle@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Do you know the name of the fanedit? I'd like to check it out

Good trackers reward seeding old torrents

[–] Fisch@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 months ago

I have a Raspberry Pi with the *arr stuff and Jellyfin that's seeding 24/7. I tried looking for popular stuff on the private trackers I'm on but they always have so many seeders in comparison to leechers that I don't know if it would actually help or worsen my ratio.

[–] Swarfega@lemm.ee -2 points 8 months ago

You don't even have to download the whole thing. Anything downloaded will be shared with other downloaders.

[–] user224@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 8 months ago

Same, but it's because I am not connectable (CG-NAT).

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 5 points 8 months ago

But when they do leach you'll be thanked.

[–] bbuez@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

I would imagine, and namely the reason I raise the sails again, content thats being migrated across different subscriptions will become a real hot token item

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 months ago

I have one tracker I am twice as long active with versus another one and I almst catched up the uploaded data with less torrents active. Sometimes I wonder if I am just not the primary target for that tracker or I just don't like the popular stuff.

Autobrr set to download freeleech

[–] Fisch@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I already have Sonarr/Radarr. Can I use Autobrr exclusively for downloading freeleech stuff?

[–] Damage@feddit.it 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yes you can, it can either monitor RSS feeds exclusively, or also, for supported trackers, place a bot on their announce channel and instantly know when a new release is announced.

With that information it can do multiple things, feed it to *arrs which then decide if they want it, send it straight to your torrent client, with various filters, etc.

[–] Fisch@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 months ago

Sounds useful, might try it out thanks

[–] deranger@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I build ratio on private trackers by getting as much freeleech stuff as I can, even though I might not be into it. Timing is key also, I’ll snatch anything I think will blow up. If you get in early you can get lots of upload. This worked great to get my initial ratio built up on what.cd and redacted.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 1 points 8 months ago

I don't sweat it. My connection is crap anyway. I'd rather somebody have a drive full of rare treasure that barely gets asked for than be one of a thousand seeding the latest Marvel rubbish.

[–] Gestrid@lemmy.ca 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

A private tracker I use actually bases their ratios off the time you seed something for rather than the amount you seed. I use a seedbox, which means people are able to leech from me pretty much 100% of the time. Most of the stuff I've seeded so far is freeleech. Those three factors combined have given me about +10.0 on my ratio over the course of maybe a week. (I just recently joined it.)

[–] Fisch@lemmy.ml 1 points 8 months ago

That's pretty interesting. I wish more trackers did it like this.
