I made the mistake of taking a niacin tablet from my parents' medicine cabinet when I was 13 or so. Thereafter, my metabolism went into such overdrive that my skin began to burn from the heat, I flushed throughout my body, and my heart began to POUND in my ears. I went into a panic over it while my parents laughed at me, but the effect went away maybe 20 minutes later.

i think the flushing is from prostaglandin

The flush is well known in niacin.
