My immediate reaction to this explanation for BIP 300 is that it makes a fundamental assumption about the motives of creators of alt coins that I'm not sure is accurate. I think a good chunk, if not the majority, were truly cash grabs and not an experiment.
That said, I think this will greatly reduce the credibility of any future alt coins that are not based on Bitcoin, so I'm all for it. I wish we had this 5 years ago lol
