Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! ✈️

An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! 🇵🇭

Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

So, uh yesterday was reported by Yahoo! Australia to be the world's hottest day of all time.

Friederike Otto, a German climate scientist based in Britain, was quoted (in the above news article) to say that this is a "death sentence for people and ecosystems", and that we should expect more records to be broken in the coming months/years, in a negative way.

Well, shit. Better save up for the a/c and fans people. Hotter days lie ahead.

Edit: Clarity. Edit 2: Yestereday to yesterday.

kuwawa talaga ang mga mahihirap sa climate change, mas lalong maghihirap

Wala man lang safety net of some sort. Fucked either way.

I fear that we may have yet to see the worst in people if things further go south, though I hope it reveals more of the best of the human race.

I think it's the perfect time to eat the rich.

Even Baguio is starting to feel like a hellhole, and people say it's supposed to be cool here.

A not so fun fact: cities may experience the Urban Heat Island effect and one of the factors is the reliance on air conditioners.

Akala ko pa naman makakatipid na sa kuryente once April-May passes, but looks like the high electric bill woes will continue.
