I think it's real, but they shifted the colors. If you stare at it, it turns into the "white/gold dress" thing where I can start to see it as a dark red colored cabinet, with a weird red hue over top of it.

My first thought when I opened the image is that it was color shifted. It's got an 'old photo taken with a bad camera in low lighting' vibe.
