People like the idea of natural birth because it's, well, natural. They think "We've given birth without doctors for thousands of years" and just gloss over the fact that mortality rates during natural births during those thousands of years were extremely high.

And it's only going to get harder to give birth naturally going forward. It was already a fine line biologically, and those high mortality rates during birth kept specific genes in check for things like baby weight, cranium size, etc.

Now that we've spent decades with modern medicine and performing caesarians a lot of babies who wouldn't have survived, or mothers who wouldn't have survived, didn't get "naturally" selected for. Eventually there may come a day where humans can't give birth naturally anymore and only through caesarians.
