I'm writing a cover letter for the first time in 7 years (got my last job through contacts and personally introducing myself).
This is so tedious and frustrating. I keep writing "I bring..." and it ends up sounding like "I bring tales of adventure, stories of wisdom, and the skillset of a wizard" or something stupid like that.
I'm also trying real hard not to start a paragraph dissing myself with "While I have an unconventional background in..." - like, don't lead with negatives. hard habit to break
'My mettle is unsurpassed and my commitment to making you more money means that you will get more money'.
I used that once. Didn't work though :(
Who doesn't want more money?! Their loss :(
The skill set of a wizard is awesome. Unless of course you are applying to be a murder hobo.
The best and most effective cover letter I ever wrote went like this : "This job sounds interesting. I think I can do it well." That was all I wrote. Got a call back within 15 minutes.
My first βrealβ job letter took 24hr and a bottle of vodka. Worked though πΊ
If someone said something original and genuinely entertaining like "I bring tales of adventure, stories of wisdom, and the skillset of a wizard" I'd give them a job!
π I wish I had a radar for detecting which people reviewing job apps would have enough of a sense of humour because I'd have os much more fun writing that.
iβm getting started on that in a few weeks for the first time in over ten years. will enlist chatGPT for help.
Yeah idk why I didn't just do that from the start. So much of it is guff anyway
