I am genuinely excited for this. I’ve been a XR enthusiast since the arcade games I played in the late 90’s early 2000’s. I got the OG vive the same day I tried it at a Best Buy in 2016. And I’ve used a vr headset at least weekly since that day. I’m excited for the space and apples intro into it.
Thankfully I have means to afford one of these and I can’t wait to try a headset more focused on lifestyle and not gaming.
Same here, I’ve used other VR headsets for years, and I’m looking forward to how this will advance the future of VR as a whole.
I get mine on Friday and can’t wait try out all the functionality along with the new apps.
Lucky I wasn’t able to snag a Friday or Saturday spot so I’m waiting until Monday.
Isn't this marketed as an AR headset?
To be fair the lines between AR and VR are pretty blurry right now. This thing is fully sealed and will render fully immersive environments that fill your full field of view, but it also has cameras can and can layer in video from the surrounding world. It’s arguably a mixed reality system that does both AR and VR.
Apple is leaning on AR because they have a more compelling software library for it. The amount of fully immersive experience will be limited, so they’d probably get a lot of heat if they leaned into marketing the VR capabilities.
Yes, when talking about the future of the technology I mistyped.
Okay. Was just wondering if you would have the same enthusiasm for AR as you did for VR. But nevermind.
Looking forward to your review once you get some hands-on time!
