    Someone sampled it and find out it’s pure red.

    You can sample the sprites yourself and average the samples to find out, but it’s probably more red on the spectrum of colors: https://www.mariowiki.com/Gallery:Mario_sprites_and_models

    Oh and I think the comic artist choose Mario for Ubuntu because they thought itd be funnier I guess. Idk!
