i will travel with my bicycle and tent from sputh to north in august. i heard there are many brown bears there, so do i need some kind of protection?

Attacks are super rare. They hide, so i have never seen any. On the off chance you see one, you should respect them and walk away. Shooting at any only make them more dangerous.
