A YouTuber I like once described this movie as being "like someone is trying to give you a learning disability". That always stuck with me.

It was meant as a joke. Both the YouTuber in question and myself enjoy the film. He was commenting on how it feels to watch the movie if you haven't read the book.

Ah, yes that makes more sense. I love the movie but it is quite different. I also love David Lynch, so that helps.
