Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered

There are plans for an EU regulation that would allow authorities to scan all content and communications to track child sexual abuse material. This regulation would allow mass surveillance regardless of suspicion. Ultimately, it will either break E2E encryption or require client-side scanning, both of which are security risks and infringe citizens' privacy rights. It also goes against the advice of experts.
Due to its size, Germany will have a significant say in whether this regulation is enacted. The Ministry of the Interior (led by the Social Democrats) is in favour of the regulation, while the Ministry of Digitalisation (led by the Liberals) is expected to oppose it. The cybercrime authorities are also against it. It is unclear whether the Liberals will actually oppose the Ministry of the Interior, which is responsible for the regulation, due to coalition disputes.
@nachtigall @lemmyreader As already seen from the elections in Italy during covid, EU does not work for people anymore and now favors the people in power. Massive exits are now to be expected like frexit, itext, gexit etc.
