"Fire and police services were called to the Free Choice Tobacconist on Pier St, Altona in Melbourne's south west about 4am after the alleged arson was witnessed by members of the public. Police believe the arsonists threw jerry cans through the smashed front window of the shop before setting it alight."
What the fuck is going on in Melbourne? This following two firebombings of ice cream shops in Williamstown makes me think we need to change the number plate slogan - "Victoria - the crime state"
If I remember correctly, there's some beef between the illegal tobacco dealers. A tobacconist near me was hit somewhat recently too
It's some underworld shit basically https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/oct/25/melbourne-tobacco-shop-fire-firebomb-attacks-record-illicit-illegal-tobacco-seized
Car rammed a cafe at Williamstown North/Altona North on Miller's road last weekend too. There's definitely some sort of crime gang stuff playing out our west at the moment.
WTF do you know what cafe it was?
Wolf Cafe at Miller's Junction. Arson attack (sounds like the same sort of thing)
I've been there once coffee was good food was average.
Sounds like a protection racket in progress. ABC podcast 'firebomb' about something similar in WA is interesting. And there's been a string of arson attacks on tobacco shops that refuse to stock a crime syndicate's illegal cigs. Coincidence? No.
