Skincare enthusiasts. Please recommend me a moisturizer for my face. Currently I just use the sunscreen on my face - Beauty of Joseon something, a friend made me buy it 💁‍♂️ and I really like the finish as it's not shiny. I think I have combination skin (t zone is oily I guess?)

Not really an enthusiast as such, but I use the cheap stuff, and I like it better than the spenso stuff. Redwin Vitamin E Cream with Evening Primrose Oil. A few bux at colesworth for 330g. Not shiny or greasy, and being cheap you can slather it on all over if you need to - eg sunburn. It's not heavily perfumed - I hate strongly scented face cream. Sunscreen goes over it just fine. Sorbolene cream in the generic pump pack is my other go to if I want a bit more oomph, but this can be a bit greasy if you use too much or don't massage it in. Unperfumed. If you're not fussed about labels, then try the baby aisle for baby lotion - this is very effective for caring for sensitive skin or combination skin. I don't care for the perfume in it though.

How is the vitamin E cream for sensitive skin that easily stings and reddens? Looking for an alternative to Cerave as it’s not the cheapest and I’m almost out.

(Even unscented Sorbolene will irritate my face because apparently there’s a tiny bit of detergent/surfactant in it. Perfume is another big irritant.)

Maybe try the Goat Milk stuff? It’s supermarket cheap and doesn’t smell of either perfume or goat. There’s also an emu oil version usually right next to it on the shelf.

Maybe! The Moo Goo stuff also resulted in welts of doom but the Aldi goats milk soap is tolerated

Both work for me when I turn into a crocodile over Winter. Sounds like you’re super sensitive, Luck!

I joke that I’m allergic to Earth

Hmm, have you tried Simple? I have a lot of sensitivities too, that's my go-to.

I might try if it’s cheap. I just stopped buying that brand years ago when I had an allergic reaction to the cleansing oil and found the soap drying.

(It was either the emulsifier or the grapeseed oil in the cleanser. Red welts all over my face. A shame because it worked really nicely other than that)

I like it for ordinary use. For really sensitive skin I might go to the chemist for pure sorbolene - this is what they gave me at Peter Mac for use on radiation therapy sensitised skin and it was just marvellous. Unscented.

Yeah that might be a good idea

[–] fullkitwanker@aussie.zone 2 points 10 months ago

Thanks! Will give it a go!

Cerave lotion in the blue pump pack is good. Hydrating but very light and not greasy or shiny. Really water based feeling if that makes sense

Oh yes, I love their cleanser. I'll give this a go!

Edit: totally not creepy that I saw a CeraVe ad on Facebook 🙃

I put on Natio 50+ daily face moisturiser in the morning which is quite light, then in the evening use Sukin sensitive cleansing lotion and Sukin night moisturiser as a heavier moisturiser for overnight. I buy them when they’re on special and usually have at least one spare in the drawer. I didn’t take the night sunscreen or night moisturiser with me when I was overseas for 3 weeks and my skin looked badly aged when I got back 😭 it’s come good with my usual routine, thank goodness.
