Yes, we do have the reputation of being a "non-voting state", which mad sucks. And Abbott & Friends aren't exactly trying to make elections more accessible for their citizens either, because they know that would harm their cause.
And there was that influx of people moving here for the cheap housing, yes. Every time I saw people going on their "DoNt CaLiFoRnIa My TeXaS" rants, I was like "Its...it's your people moving here from Cali!" And yeah, I truly believe that in 2022, Pudding Fingers and Piss Baby were taking nods from one another, seeing who could up the ante in being more hateful. I do believe a significant number of Conservative people chose Florida as an alternative to Texas.
That being said, I myself am a Texas transplant via Uncle Sam, and I resisted changing my statehood to Texas for years until the 2022 mid-terms where I finally claimed Texas residency, simply so I could vote for Beto. Then again, it was all for naught because I'm a Blue voter in a Blue city, so it doesn't really help.
I can only hope that we get a huge blue wave of representatives voted inacross the country this coming year. I hope Colin Allred can beat out Ted Cruz for sure. I feel hopeless and jaded, but I'm not 100% cynical yet.
I don't believe we'll have a representative legislature, or congressional delegation, until we can flip the state-wide offices. So blue voters in blue cities absolutely matter to get us there. We have to turn out in such high numbers to overcome the gerrymandering.
Oh shit yes absolutely! I didn't mean it to come off as if I'd quit voting, there will definitely be 2 blue votes coming out of the AquaTofana household every single election, we even go to the local ones!
Just...man. I wish our address was in at least one of the purple districts on the edge of the county instead of the solid blue district we're in right now. I want to spread it out!
