funny. someone in a climate discussion the other day on the fediverse was talking about avoiding 1.5 maybe even I saw it in two different discussions. Admittedly I was to tired to reply something about it but just shook my head and moved on.

Avoiding 1.5C is still theoretically possible. The 1.5C is long-term average, which the 2.06 is a short-term fluctuation. Also depends on which baseline you are using. CAT puts November 2022 at 1.2C and Copernicus says October 2023 it was 1.25C.

Now... it might take something like nuclear war to avoid , but its possible. Still think its worth holding onto it as a goal, even if we have no hope of getting there by acceptable means.
