Why can't there be any human invention without huge downsides for the environment?

In this case, it's because the main focus shouldn't have been to electrify individual transport, but to to get rid of it and built up public transportation.

Because environmental disasters are not under the eyes of those who want new products every day. The problem is probably not EV in this case since those remove 1.5 gigatonnes of pollution. The 'always new product' trend is the real culprit
