At least 13 people have been killed in a blast outside Gaza City's biggest hospital, the Hamas-run health ministry in Gaza says.

BBC Verify has verified graphic videos showing badly injured and possibly dead people lying outside the hospital.

The Israeli military has confirmed it struck an ambulance that it says was being used by Hamas operatives.

It did not say where the air strike took place.

"An IDF aircraft struck an ambulance that was identified by forces as being used by a Hamas terrorist cell in close proximity to their position in the battle zone," it said in a statement.

Was this also a failed Hamas rocket?

You mean the rocket that the New York Times investigation indicated didn't actually hit the hospital?

Strange that the United States and Israel oppose an independent investigation into it...

Likely not. This hospital is pretty near the front lines and Israel claims that the ambulance was being used as a troop transport which was slyly confirmed by a hospital official claiming that it was a miracle that no staff were injured in the attack. That would also explain how Israel could confirm it was being used as a troop transport too.

Wow, amazing work. Interestingly there was also a bit where the movements of this ambulance medivac convoy was so widely covered and disseminated that even garbage outlets like WSJ were reporting on it 4 hours before it ever left the hospital, in an article called "Ambulance Convoy to Move Patients From Northern Gaza to Egypt Border, Health Ministry Says". Slyly, Hamas even notified the Israeli government of the exact street and route they would be taking. Man, Israel is so next level, to an amateur like me none of this even makes sense. They are gooooooood.
