@Karen5Lund @mastodon you don't need a life ruining algorithm to make a site exciting, i know i've built plenty of high traffic sites since I was 10. there should be enough of interesting content to follow, otherwise people won't join and if they do, they won't stay. there are several great things FB did on it's way to becomming a shithole. if mastodon implemented the things that worked for them and didn't implement the shitty stuff, this could be big and really cause some changes in the world
What sort of things are you looking for?
@russjr08 at first i'd probably want to see some famous people using this, so I have who to follow
@kingtoms @russjr08 Famous for what? There are some well-known technologists here, some journalists, a few others noteworthy in their fields.
Ah, there-in lies the good ole chicken & egg problem. The majority of people won't sign up until bigger people are on the platform, but bigger people won't sign up for the platform until the majority of people are on there.
It sounds like you just want standard social media and its standard parasocial relationships. What appeals to you about fediverse that has you trying it in the first place?
