It would be great to be able to link an account on one instance to another instance elsewhere on the fediverse. A way for there to be an "official" recognition that the human behind the one account controls the other account, without the clunky system of having to put the link in each others bios.

Why not work towards one account on one server that works everywhere?

The only reason I have several accounts on the fediverse is that I can't subscribe to everything anywhere, any time, from my preferred platform. If lemmy was able to subscribe to mastodon posts, I'd need nothing else.

Unfortunately, when I raised this issue on github one of the devs seemed agitated that it didn't work properly after he said that it was fixed, and nothing more happened to my knowledge so I don't think it's going to happen anytime soon.

@coldhotman Friendica comes pretty close, only thing I'm missing is the ability to create link posts to Lemmy.
