the cabinet member should be using grass roots advisers , that has always been an option, tho how are the advisers chosen?
also the cabinet member can issue press releases
why don't these people do their bloody job π€¬
and fuck that solidarity shit, that's straight out of Stalinism, it's one reason among many ( among other reasons were anti-semitism and the support of genocide in Rwanda ) I no longer join left leaning political, social activism groups or think tanks ( I'm independent with strong left views )
and don't talk about the shitty approach to broadcasting their views, they have this stupid idea that humans should be given dry facts and that should be enough to sway them π
humans are both **emotional and rational **creatures and all discussions and advertising should be handled that way
also sick of people using their own metrics to measure other people's lives and the latest fashion to measure society is to measure outcomes and compare that to some kind of idea of what society should be, both sides do this ,
just fucking ask people what they want, stop telling people, how hard is that
Cabinet solidarity is a fundamental principle of parliamentary democracies supported by all sides of politics. It's not a left-exclusive practice.
I can't really make sense of the rest of what you're saying, sorry.
First Nations people were asked what they needed to improve their lives and close the gap. It was not some kind of permanent ministry position. Their answer, after years of discussion and consultation, was the Voice.
I will point out, too, that we've had a Minister for Indigenous Affairs continuously since 1968, though only since 2019 has this minister actually been indigenous.
I mean in regard to their day to day lives as well as personal life goals and societal goals
Truly, if politicians at all levels were doing their jobs, from local mayor to federal cabinet member, The Voice would be moot.
uhgh, I sound like a bitter tired old bohemian,
Of course, so who holds them accountable for doing their jobs? Perhaps a Voice?
accountability is at the ballot box or the law courts
What gap, a gap between what two things? What are you measuring, who determined what should be measured and why? Why is measuring important? Against whose values of what society should be are you measuring?
These are the gaps, each backed by data that demonstrates how outcomes differ between Non-Indigenous and Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people:
https://www.closingthegap.gov.au/national-agreement/targets
These particular measures were established in the mid-00's. I don't think I can give you a reasonable summary of how the targets were set but it is all available online, starting with that website.
I read the targets. They sound like Western middle class targets.
Okay π
π€¨ don't humour me
Mostly just determined this convo isn't very useful, that's all.
