Does anybody else think that Albo kind of half-arsed this? I don't wish him to resign but jeez I hope he puts in more effort in future.

I think there’s a lot of pieces that led to this. Perhaps more information and presentation of what it means to vote yes.

Equally the No campaigns were quite awful for done of them and played on the ignorant and fears of people.

A lot of people were too easily swayed into the no camp for a myriad of reasons I feel.

I don’t have the answers to it however.

What I observed was Lidia (as much as I disagree with what she says) voice her opinion in a passionate way on every program that I turned on all I heard from Our Leader was "it's up to the Australian people. I'm sure they will do the right thing". Where's the passion? Where's the leadership? I'm very disappointed.

I admit I saw a lot of her on tv, much more than I would have liked to be honest.

I think Albo could have pushed it a little harder to be honest. I saw various things on the media from other people trying to get the point across but it was varied amoungst a number of people.

I really hope this doesn’t cause a set back for future generations to come.

I agree with everything you've just said.

I'm not even sure who that lidia person is. I read the proposed amendment and voted my conscience. That is all. I did not watch tv or listen to radio or read local newspapers or go on social media. I don't need people to tell me what to think.

Albo didn’t even 1/4 ass this. The things been dead in the water for months. Fear was always gonna win in the face of no response from yes.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 4 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He showed no ass.

I like the bloke as a person, but as a PM he's not really showing enough leadership.

The voice is a great idea but definitely needed fleshing out and actively promoting it from day 1.

Also, given all the other issues Austrians are facing right now, this was the wrong time for the referendum.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Yes except the bit about the Austrians. Hahaha.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 5 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Scheisse

Ain't correcting it though

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 11 months ago

Umah. You said a bad word.

Well, it's not really his job. He promised to bring the question to the voters, and he did that. That should have been all he needed to do. This isn't really meant to be his cause.

It also should have been brought years ago by either Abbott or Morrison. The Statement From the Heart was made in 2017.

This is why I was surprised when Mr Dutton spoke about a referendum rematch. His party sat on this topic for years.

I understand why Albo said he respects the decision of the Australian people.

But I fucking don't. People who voted no suck.
