Where's the best pie bakery you can think of within a couple of hours drive of the CBD?

Closer to home, I know the South Melbourne Bakery does a good one.. I could just go down there I guess.

These people are good. I go to the one in Queenscliff sometimes: https://www.rollingpin.com.au/

They even won a few made up bogus awards. They are good pies though.

Not specifically a pie shop, but Redbeard bakery in Trentham does awesome pies and sausage rolls as well as breads and pastries.

little further afield, but the Glenrowan bake house does a killer beef and jalapeño. Probably call before you go. Or not. It’s really about the journey innit?

I used to stop at the Kilmore Bakery and tearooms when I was passing through, and the pies and cakes were always excellent.

Buddy's Bakery in Melton has won best chunky meat pie a few years in a row. Grab one and head to Bacchus Marsh for some fresh produce or Ballarat for a walk around.

My home town! I am very familiar with a Buddy's pie too, a great shout. I guess I could stop in and see dad if I headed out to Melton.. maybe.

If you go next door to Melton bakery they also have some of the best pies and sausage rolls I've ever eaten but they may not be open today. Buddy's is always open though.

I'm trying to remember if I've ever actually been in there before. I know I've thought about it but always ended up in Buddy's. Maybe Buddy's was closed for holiday once and I went in there.. rings a tiny bell.
