Getting ready for daylight savings early? That’s what my brain seems to be doing

[–] Force_majeure122@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I thought it was the other way around. I'm too old to not understand daylight savings 😭

Spring forward / Fall back to remember which way the clock moves (the only good thing about the Americanisation of Autumn).

I also associate Spring with lots of activity and birds, and the early bird catches the worm, hence we get up an hour earlier in Spring.

Autumn is slowing down and preparing for winter, for some plants and animals hibernation, so in Autumn we sleep in and get up an hour later.

Being in Brisbane for the DST changeover I feel like I'm already cheating because everything here starts and operates much earlier anyway. Even at this time of the year the sun's up by 5:30am and shit's open at 6. It's hot by 10am (earlier in summer). If it wouldn't drive systems nuts Brisbane should be permanently ahead of Sydney given how far east it is.

I just remember that 4am is a bullshit time for summer sunrise so we made it five instead.

I don't see 5am unless i'm pulling an all nighter, regardless of dst. Ridiculous time. 4 even more so.
