One of the original, and currently largest, punk communities on Lemmy. The purpose of this place should be obvious from the title. Self promotion is ok, but spam is not, so keep it reasonable.

The goal is to help everyone find new tracks from around the world. Post new music, or your old favourites, but hopefully as you browse the group you'll find something you haven't heard before. Think more crate digging than top 40 streaming services.

Where possible please try to link to Bandcamp, so others can support the bands you love.

MODERATORS

Thought I'd mix it up a little this weekend, starting off with a favourite punk album of all time poll. Post your vote in the comments below (bonus points if you also link to a bandcamp or youtube copy so everyone can give a listen). I won't count upvoting already posted albums, since people might just be agreeing that that is a good album, but they might have a separate favourite.

One comment = one vote.

We also had a great suggestions from @harsh3466@lemmy.world over in the intro post, so this best of list is going to form the basis of the first edition of Album Club. I figure I'll pick some of the less popular favourite album suggestions to kick off our first few rounds. I'm going to start it off as a bi-weekly and see how it goes, so next Sunday I'll announce the first album and give everyone two weeks to have a listen.

I'll keep this post updated with the totals as we move through the week. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like to see in the sub!

Way too many favorites to pick a definite one really, but i'm just gonna go with Mush by Leatherface for the raw emotional pull it still has on me to this day.

Among the closest contenders for me would be these:
Wire - Pink Flag
Big Black - Atomizer
Wipers - Is This Real?
Mission Of Burma - Vs.
Fugazi - The Argument
Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade
Radio Birdman - Radios Appear
The Ruts - The Crack
Television - Marquee Moon
... plus a ton of shit i'm sure i'm forgetting right now.

Just to sprinkle in something contemporary, ill also mention Härvest by Poison Ruïn.

Do you ever have those bands, where the name floats around forever, but for some reason you never actually get around to listening to them? Leatherface is one of those bands. This is the first time I've listened to an album start to finish, and it's really good! Don't know why it took me so long.
