Lemmy.world users: Notice who posted this?

Yes, its a https://beehaw.org user, posting to !memes@lemmy.ml.

Despite the defederation, we still get beehaw.org users posts and comments. We just got to go through 3rd party services now (such as lemmy.ml) to talk or interact with beehaw.org users.

We're cutoff, but not really. I think this post deserves a "Best of" since its one of the clearest examples of how Defederation works in practice. Its not as bad as #RedditBlackout users seem to think it is.

Hmm... Okay, further testing required.

Looks like my post is visible from lemmy.world, and lemmy.ml. However, it is not appearing on Beehaw.org. Very interesting.

I'm pretty sure we here at lemmy.world will continue to get posts from users@beehaw.org. But they won't be able to see our posts or discussions. But everyone else (who still has federated with lemmy.world) can see us and talk with us still.

posts from before defederation will still be visible, in the same way that posts from before federation will not

The post I linked is from Saturday June 17th, long after the defederation. That's why I chose that post, because its after defederation.
