Remember when Filipinos used to say that we should emulate Singapore's penalty for suicide attempts? I wonder if our attitude towards it has improved with mental health getting some exposure and attention now.
Had to look it up, and found the following from Wikipedia:

That's one hell of a gambit if you intend to off yourself, lol.
Still doesn't change the fact that it's a stupid law. Naalala ko lang tuloy yung Buencamino's who had no idea their daughter was depressed. Ano yun, makukulong sila for failing to notice the signs?
Suicide by cop is a thing though, mostly by those who can't gather enough motivation to off themselves.
It's indeed a stupid law. Though there might be scenarios where that law would be useful (like the imprisonment be replaced by a psychiatric evaluation and treatment) it's still stupid that suicide is criminalized.
