Who do you want to sacrifice for a revolution?
Revolutions happen when people run out of other options. By definition the conditions are such that many people are already being sacrificed. So the question for you is how many people are you willing to sacrifice to maintain the status quo?
I was saying not to root for the death of the oppressed. I was suggesting that treating them as a good thing was gross. I never said I support any kind of status quo.
I don't see anybody rooting for the death of the oppressed here. What's being said is that the current system is responsible for often horrific and continuously deteriorating conditions for the majority. The cost of changing this system has to be weighed against the cost of allowing it to continue to operate.
When a person responds to an article showing the acceleration of genocide on specific ethnic groups with "Inshallah it will fall further" they are no longer commenting on the state of the US. They are condoning the early deaths of my friends and family, people who are historically oppressed as a means to an end. These are people who have been fighting for their rights from a ruling class while trying to hold onto themselves for centuries. If the response is the US is bad so anything with a negative number in the US is good, well, that is reductionist at best.
Out of luck on your little comment here then. It was Native Americans that took the big hit from what you are praising. So close. Maybe next time it will be the right race and you can feel justified.
Imagine calling people who lived in a place 400-500 years colonizers. What is the threshold where a population becomes localized? I consider Palestinians indigenous to Palestine, even though they have not always lived there. If you do not think a population can become indigenized over hundreds of years, you will have a difficult time contending with Zionists who argue that Israelis are the original inhabitants of Palestine and that the land was taken from them, even as they displace people from the homes they have lived in for generations. How will you come to grips with the reality that 99.3% of the American population is non-native? Do you want all of these people to die?
I read that book already. It's just a bad book. Don't assume I don't understand things.
Ok, sure. But that doesn't answer any of my questions. Since you want to draw comparisons to the Nazis, did the soviets scapegoat the German people in East Germany or did they suppress the Nazi ideology and liberate the people regardless of nationality?
This is just a shitty moralism, not an objective analysis. All land is stolen if you want to go there. And in communism me and your friend will share the car. Just like the land will be shared. There are two worlds that are exposed to us. The world that is, and the world that should be. With enough effort, we can objectively make sense of the world that is.
We can not objectively understand the world that should be, because there is a different version of that world for every person. But at the individual level, the fantasies we have play a small role in the real world.
So let's stick to the world that is and you can answer my questions from before.
Wait, are you saying the US is worse in this aspect? Cause you might want to look into the history of imperialism before making that claim. Human history is chock full of messed up shit.
I already noticed it. Just because someone wrote a book doesn't mean it's true. The history of European colonialism is chock full of messed up shit. Muslims went on numerous conquests in the name of Allah. Genghis Khan alone killed innocents by the million. World history is full of humans being horrible to each other, and just because the US is currently the dominant power doesn't erase that.
We're on a forum. That's literally what they're for.
Still can't answer the question. But I'm the one who doesn't understand settler-colonialism. Right.
